Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)
Request a Consultation
Teens and men with enlarged breasts. The degree of increase varies with the problem and may be formed by fat and glandular tissue.
Incisions and technique:
Fat is removed through a small hollow tube called a cannula, which is introduced under the skin through small incisions near the area to be aspirated. The incisions are usually 4 to 8 mm long and are hidden in grooves and natural marks. For liposculpture the liposuction is replaced by disposable syringes, attached directly to the cannula to aspirate excess fat. With syringe liposculpture one can measure precisely how much fat is aspirated and the fat can be reinjected. Fat can be reinjected into the face to soften wrinkles and ridges and into the body to improve contour areas such as the buttocks, thighs, hips, legs, ankles and hands. Superficial liposculpture allows you to remove more fat and improve the body contour of patients with sagging skin. For fibrous areas of the body an external ultrasound may be used to "melt" fat before aspiration.
Back to work after 3 to 7 days. Exhausting activities: 2 to 3 weeks. Exercises: one month. Swelling and bruising: 3 to 6 months.
Duration of Results
Reduce large, female-looking breasts in men by cutting off excess glandular tissue through a small incision in the areola and aspirating excess fat through liposuction.
Local with sedation
An hour to an hour and a half.
In general outpatient.
Bruising, swelling, numbness, temporary pain and discomfort.
Accumulation of fluid, infection, asymmetry. Pigmentation changes (which may be permanent in contact with the sun). In cases where there is a lot of skin excess, a second operation may be necessary to remove more tissue when the skin retracts.
